Twice every year Toastmasters clubs around the world conduct Speech Contests. Two categories are chosen (for example, it might be Tall Tales, Humorous, Storytelling, Table Topics, or Evaluation ) and a member of your local club will take on the task of being Contest Coordinator.
We encourage every member, no matter their “age” in Toastmasters, to stretch a bit outside their comfort zone. Try giving a contest speech! It’s great practice (and as a Toastmaster you know: practice — and learning and growing from what you learn by practicing — is the name of the game).
If you choose to opt out, please contact your Contest Coordinator so that you can sign up for one of the other roles, including the critical Judge role.
